About Martta

Martta Eicher Rabago has spent much of her life helping others learn, grow, and discover meaning through words. A developmental editor, researcher, writer, mentor, and educator for more than twenty-five years, she has worked alongside subject-matter experts to transform complex ideas into thoughtful, accessible writing. Her areas of particular interest include history, psychology, theology, and technology.

But some of Martta’s most meaningful work has taken place much closer to home.

Together with her husband, Martta raised five children, four sons and a daughter, and spent years homeschooling them. Teaching her own children deepened her appreciation for the power of stories, questions, conversation, and the everyday moments through which children begin to understand faith and the world around them.

Her faith is central to her life and writing. Martta is a devoted student of Scripture who immerses herself not only in the biblical text, but also in its rich historical and cultural context. She has a particular love for exploring how timeless truths found in Scripture can become tangible in ordinary life, especially in the relationships and challenges we encounter as we grow through the journey of life.

That perspective is at the heart of Mercy’s Eyes of Faith.

Through Mercy’s story, Martta invites children and the adults who love them to explore what it means to look beyond what we can immediately see, to recognize the hurt that may exist beneath another person’s behavior, and to respond with kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and love.

Inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight,” Mercy’s Eyes of Faith reflects Martta’s lifelong roles as a mother, teacher, student of Scripture, researcher, and storyteller, and her desire to help children discover how faith can shape the way they see and treat others.
